PREFACE WITH THE BOOK BY SIMPLY JAWAHARLAL NEHRU: -
This book was authored by Jawaharlal Nehru in Ahmadnagar Fort penitentiary during the five months, Apr to Sept. 2010 1944. A number of his acquaintances in jail were good enough to read the manuscript and make numerous valuable ideas. On revising the publication in penitentiary he required advantage of these types of suggestions to make some enhancements. No one, he need barely add, is responsible for what this individual has created or always agrees with this. But this individual expresses my own deep gratitude to his fellow-prisoners in Ahmadnagar Fort for the innumerable talks and discussion posts they had, which helped him greatly to clear his own mind about various aspects of Indian background culture. Jail is not really a pleasant destination to live in actually for a short period, much less to get long years. The majority of the principal living Indian different languages, as well as the classical languages which have powerfully affected India in past times and present, were represented and the normal was typically that of high scholarship. Among the list of classical languages were Sanskrit and Pali, Arabic and Persian; the present day languages had been Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Sindhi and Oriya. Jawaharlal Nehru acquired all this wealth to bring up and the just limitation was his own capacity to gain it. Nevertheless he was thankful to all his companions, he specially pointed out a few names; Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, whose vast erudition usually delighted myself but occasionally also rather overwhelmed me, Govind Ballabh Pant, Narendra Deva and M. Asaf Ali.
The book remains as written in penitentiary with no improvements or adjustments, except for the postscript by the end.
He does'nt know how additional authors feel about their writings, but constantly he had a strange sensation if he read something which he had drafted some time recently. That experience is increased when the publishing had been required for the close and abnormal ambiance of prison and the future reading happened outside. This individual could acknowledge it of course , but not wholly; it...
